How to replace or install a check valve?

Sump pumpsSump pumps can work for many years without any glitch. When any problem occurs, people can identify it and repair it easily if they know what to check in the sump pump installation. The check valve in sump pump is referred as one way valve since it let the water to flow in only one direction. If you like to appreciate how the check valve aids the pump system work effectively, you need to think about what occurs when no valve is there. In order to add check valve to the line that lacks one, people need to buy a valve that is no smaller in width than drain pipe already existed and any required adapters or couplings. They can use a pipe cutter or hacksaw to cut a particular section of pipe for accommodating them. Then deburr the cut edges using either utility knife or metal file. In order to remove the check valve that is secured with an adapter or coupling, they need to loosen the strap using a flathead screwdriver. If it is glued or welded, they need to use a hacksaw to cut the pipe.

If the check valve was installed incorrectly, they have to reverse it and leave it for about two inches of pipe at the end of the valve else cut near to the check valve and abandon it. For installing a new valve, you have to slide a flexible coupling over pipe connecting to the sump pump and slid another over pipe connecting to the drain. Then insert the new check valve with an arrow of direction facing away from the sump pump. If they like to reinstall the valve after they reverse the direction of flow in the valve, they can slid the flexible coupling over pipe that stubs on the check valve and make tighter the straps.
